This 3-day institute includes:

--Introduction to the LLI Red and Gold System with special attention on what the research has shown to be effective instruction for older, struggling readers.
--Rationales for the instructional procedures in the LLI Red and Gold System -- comprehension, vocabulary development, fluency, phonics/word study, and writing about reading -- and how they all contribute to the reader's development of an effective processing system.
--Opportunities to observe, discuss, and practice using the lesson frameworks, instructional procedures, and resources in the LLI Red and Gold System.
--Focus on supporting students to develop strategic actions for processing text using a gradient of high quality fiction and nonfiction texts, written explicitly for the LLI Red and Gold System.
--Specific instruction on the assessment and record keeping in the LLI Red and Gold System crucial to informing teaching decisions and maximize effectiveness.
--Introduction to the Online Resources website for accessing materials and the LLI Data Management Website for recording, collecting, and analyzing data on student progress.
 
About the Facilitators: Sid Larson and Trisha Spende are both Reading Specialists and Literacy Consultants for CESA #2.  Together they bring over 45 years of experience in the field of education including Elementary and Middle School classroom teaching, Reading Recovery, Title I, Administration, Curriculum, Literacy Coaching, and Adjunct Faculty positions.

Cost: $375 per person; includes on-site lunches and materials for the three-day institute

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

In-Person Events: Restrictions on our in-person events due to COVID-19 have been lifted. We will be responsive to what's happening within our communities, and guidelines from the CDC and local health agencies for future offerings and will update guidelines when necessary.
