Restorative Conferencing, the most formal of the 5 Restorative Practices placed on the continuum is the most deep, time intensive of all the practices. Restorative Conferencing is a procedure that creates a structured meeting between offenders, victims and both parties’ family and friends, in which they deal with the consequences of the offense and decide how best to repair the harm. This two-day training covers the process of selecting cases, inviting participants, making preparations and running the conference itself. A general overview of the theories supporting Restorative Practices and the 5 Practices are the focus of the first part of Day 1. The training was developed by the International Institute of Restorative Practices: www.iirp.org

Participants will:

  • Understand the theory of Fair Process
  • Apply the Social Discipline Window to their practice
  • Experience how to pre-conference and set up a Formal Conference
