This workshop is designed to support schools teams/personnel in using growth model SLOs to meet the individual needs of the academically and/or intellectually advanced students.  Time will be deeply devoted to identification, understanding data, progress monitoring and SLO practice, with a short overview of the characteristics of giftedness and basic programming models.  

To realize full potential for your school, bring at least two cycles (i.e.: fall and winter scores) of your own classroom and/or grade level assessment data if possible.

Presenter:    
Cathy Schmit has worked in education for over 25 years.  She has 8 years of experience in Gifted Education serving as the Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher in the Tomahawk School District and as a Gifted and Talented Consultant for CESA #9.  Her work has included organizing and teaching workshops in differentiation and enrichment, use of assessments and data, and initial educator support as well as district and CESA-wide enrichment activities for gifted students.  Additionally, her work has included G/T grant writing, differentiation and RtI coaching, individual testing, assessment and long-range programming.  Cathy was recently elected to the Wisconsin Association for Talented and Gifted (WATG) Board of Directors representing the North central Region of Wisconsin.

Teacher Standards

Pupil Services
WPS1The pupil services professional understands the teacher standards under s. PI 34.02.
WPS2The pupil services professional understands the complexities of learning and knowledge of comprehensive, coordinated practice strategies that support pupil learning, health, safety and development.
WPS6The pupil services professional is able to address comprehensively the wide range of social, emotional, behavioral and physical issues and circumstances which may limit pupils’ abilities to achieve positive learning outcomes through development, implementation and evaluation of system-wide interventions and strategies.
