Coaching the Change: Fostering the Impact

Course Credit: 3 credits (pending Viterbo approval) with potential of 1 additional credit

  August 22, November 5, December 10, 2014, February 11, 2015 - CESA 8 Office
and May 7, 2015 with Jim Knight (location to be determined)

Prerequisite: Encouraged, but not required: CESA 8 Instructional Coaching Certificate

Description:

We are in a massive state of change in public education. In order to meet the need of major state initiatives, new learning styles, and the science behind what works, we must actively support and develop our teaching staff through the use of the right tools. In this Instructional Coaching course, participants will further develop skills necessary to coach teachers and administrators through a variety of change processes (initiatives). The course will explore teaching frameworks, high leverage teaching strategies, and how to effectively scaffold learning so staff can realize their full potential as educators.

August 22: Coaching through Data and SMART SLOs, Coaching Action Planning
November 5, December 10, February 11: Workshops based on the year cycle of EE and teaching practice, building capacity for change in teaching and leadership.
May 6: Jim Knight - On Unmistakable Impact and High Impact Instruction/Coaching


Topics included, but not limited to:

  • Developing a coaching program, including the necessary skills needed to coach
  • Identifying how to measure the impact of a coaching program
  • Developing and refining coaching skills necessary to support teachers through the change
  • Exploring and capacity building in use of high yield teaching strategies for student growth
  • Action planning for school improvement which includes implementation of key concepts with fidelity
  • Creating plans for supporting teachers and administrators through navigating Educator Effectiveness and how it is nested in the change
  • Participating in a regional network in order to build collective capacity through shared experience

Cost:    $375.00 per participant from 2014-15 CESA Curriculum Instruction and Assessment Member districts for course. ($330.00 for optional 3 creditis or                $440.00 for optional 4 credits payable to Viterbo first day of class). 

$600.00 per participant for all other school districts. ($330.00 for optional 3 creditis or $440.00 for optional 4 credits payable to Viterbo first day of class).

CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 8 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. Registered participants not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee.
