The CCSM-Standards for Mathematical Practice outline the processes in which students and teahers should engage in doing mathematics.  In this training, participants will examine classroom-based activities that highlight these practices.  Included is:

  • an investigation of instructional shifts needed to allign with the standards
  • an initial look at practices that can lead to misconceptions, and
  • instructional practices that will build conceptual depth

Facilitating this training is Sandy Atkins, owner and Executive Director of Creating AHAs, LLC. Sandy currently works with school districts across the United States in developing conceptual understandings, or Creating AHAs, for teachers and students in grades K-8.  She has also presented this year at the NCSM Leadership in Mathematics Education Annual Conference in New Orleans, the Wisconsin Mathematics Council Annual Conference, and will now be joining us in addition to many other trainings and presentations this year!

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:

If a workshop has been canceled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all your contact information is correct on myQuickReg.com
