Changing Behavior by Changing Thinking
Presenter:  John Bemis, DPI EBD Consultant

Description:  This sectional will focus on cognitive interventions for high incident students. To change the way students act, we must change the way they think or perceive the world.  Many students come to us without the skills necessary to navigate the world successfully.  Through this presentation members will learn specific interventions in errors in thinking, aggression reduction, moral development, and the process of change in adolescence.

John Bemis is the new behavior consultant at the Wisconsin DPI.  He is a former Lead Teacher at River Cities High School in Wisconsin Rapids, and Senior Lecturer at UWSP in the area of Emotional, Behavioral Disabilities. John is the author of Changing Behavior by Changing Thinking and The Voyage- Phases of Change a Curriculum for At-Risk Youth, Co-authored with Christie Gause-Bemis.
