Writing Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) should be more than just jumping through a hoop in the Educator Effectiveness process. This two day session will provide you with a strong foundation and understanding of the process of formative assessment in order to understand the relationship between formative assessment and SLOs.
You will learn how to…
- Define and practice the writing of unit goals, lesson level targets and criteria for success
- Use diagnostic assessment probes to set unit-level or lesson-level goals and targets and/or elicit evidence of barriers to meeting already set unit goals and lesson targets
- Plan for incorporating the use of formative assessment techniques within your plans for moving students forward.
We will focus on techniques that…
- Engage and motivate students
- Activate thinking and promote metacognition
- Provide stimuli for productive content discussions
- Use feedback effectively
- Improve questioning and responses
