Writing Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) should be more than just jumping through a hoop in the Educator Effectiveness process. This two day session will provide you with a strong foundation and understanding of the process of formative assessment in order to understand the relationship between formative assessment and SLOs.

You will learn how to…

• Define and practice the writing of unit goals, lesson level targets and criteria for success
• Use diagnostic assessment probes to set unit-level or lesson-level goals and targets and/or elicit evidence of barriers to meeting already set unit goals and lesson targets
• Plan for incorporating the use of formative assessment techniques within your plans for moving students forward.

We will focus on techniques that…

• Engage and motivate students
• Activate thinking and promote metacognition
• Provide stimuli for productive content discussions
• Use feedback effectively
• Improve questioning and responses
