Working with English Language Learners in the mainstream classroom can present additional challenges for educators. In addition to instructing ELLs with content area knowledge, they are simultaneously acquiring language skills. This series is designed to give educators the tools they need to get started working with ELLs in their classroom. We will begin addressing the question teachers often ask, "How can I assist ELLs in my classroom?" with the ELL foundations session. Later we will address the question, "What specific challenges will I encounter in the content areas?" Join our professional learning community as we discuss the strategies for working with ELLs. A light supper will be provided for participants. Member of the CESA 5 Title III Consortium will receive a $25 stipend for attending.
