Intermediate SMARTBoards: Creating Lessons to Engage and Motivate Students
Class will meet, Saturday November 6th from 8:30 to 4:00,  Tuesday November 9th and Tuesday November 16th from 4:00 to 7:30, 2010 in Portage Community School District - specific location To Be Determined.

Description:

Do you already have a SMARTBoard and consider yourself a user? This intermediate class is for you! Come learn the advanced features of the SMART Board and create engaging and motivating lessons for your students. This class is not for beginners.

In this course you will:

  • Design interactive lessons using Grouping Pages, Creating links, Adding attachments, and customizing My Content
  • Integrate media content using Page recorder, SMART recorder, and on-line resources
  • Add personal style to lessons using object properties, creating themes, tables and the Lesson Activity toolkit
  • Explore and discuss uses of the SMART Document Camera, SMART Slate, and SMART Response system
  • Utilize additional on-line resources such as SMART Teacher Hub, SMART Exchange, SMART Training center, various blogs, wikis, and podcasts, and searching for SMART Notebook files on the Internet
  • Create a Lesson Plan or Notebook file incorporating several  SMARTBoard/Notebook tools into an existing unit. Lesson Plan/Notebook file will be due by Wednesday November 24th.

CESA 5 registration fee:     $150
** Discounted CESA 5 fee of $100 for educators who register by Friday October 15th from full-service ITSS and Ed Tech ARRA Consortium districts: Adams-Friendship, Almond-Bancroft, Auburndale, Cambria-Friesland, Columbus, Lodi, Montello, Necedah, Nekoosa, New Lisbon, Pardeeville, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Portage, Poynette, Princeton, Randolph, Rio, Rosholt, Sauk Prairie, Waupaca, Westfield, Wild Rose, and Wisconsin Dells.

Please submit purchase order or check to Janet Gaber, CESA 5, within two weeks of registering for the class. 

Optional Viterbo fee for one graduate credit: $ 90
Viterbo University enrollment forms will be distributed on November 6th. Checks or credit card information for Viterbo credit will also be collected at that time.

WES6The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.
WES8The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the pupil.
Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
