Description: In this presentation, Kate will focus on instructional strategies for students with autism and related disorders, ages EC through 3rd Grade. Participants will leave with a better sense of who their students w/ autism and related disorders are as learners and processors. Evidence based practices that are tried and true will be presented in a practical, hands on manner. Come prepared to move and have fun!

About the presenter:
Kate McGinnity, M.S., is an experienced classroom teacher, trainer & author as well as a nationally recognized consultant in the field of autism. She has over 30 years experience working with individuals with autism and their families. During her tenure as a teacher, Kate was recognized as the Wisconsin and National Teacher of the Year by the Autism Society of America. Kate and her husband foster parented an adolescent with autism for several years until he reached adulthood. She is currently involved in private practice providing training and consultation to professionals and parents as well as collaborating, counseling and yoga to individuals on the autism spectrum. Kate has been a core trainer and developer for the Wisconsin Statewide Autism Training project through DPI for over 25 years. Kate is the co-author of the following books/DVD’s, available @ cbrpress.com: “Walk Awhile in My Autism” and “Lights! Camera! Autism! Using Videotechnology to Enhance Lives. “ She is committed to bringing her passion and compassion to every aspect of her work and life.

Cost: $25/Per Person

Graduate Credit: $200.00 - 1 Graduate Credit from Silver Lake College.  (This will be in addition to the workshop fee.)
Participants may choose to earn one graduated credit from Silver Lake College for extending the knowledge and skills gained in the workshop to an independent and authentic application of theory to practice within his/her relevent educational and/or professional setting.

Participant Cancellation Policy: You must contact CESA #3 at least one week prior to the scheduled event to cancel and receive a full refund of your registration fee. Cancellations not received at least one week prior to the registered event will be charged the full registration fee. CESA #3 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot. Accommodations: If you need an accommodation to participate including interpreter services (sign language or other spoken language) please email the workshop contact to set up these services. A two-week notice is appreciated. CESA #3 is handicapped accessible.
