As we countdown to 2014-15, we draw closer to the deadline for the full scale implementation of Act 166, Educator Effectiveness requirement. Regardless of the system that your district selects to evaluate teacher/principal practice, writing high quality SLOs for measuring student outcomes will be an important component in the EE system.  After the full scale pilot (2013-14), revisions will be made and further details will be revealed about state-wide revisions to the intended system.  Learn how to write a rigorous SLO that meets the requirements of the SLO selection rubric.

Please join use as we discuss how your district can be prepared to help teachers write high quality STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES.   At the end of the day, participants will be able to:

  • Know who must write an SLO
  • Know how many SLOs are required
  • Describe the state's process for implementing an evaluation system in which SLOs are a critical component
  • Determine assessments upon which an SLO can be measured
  • Determine methods to conduct a needs assessment for developing an SLO
  • Know the components of a SMART SLO
  • Understand how building, team, and individual SLOs are connected
  • Analyze example SLOs to critique the quality of the SLO
  • Write an SLO either using mock or actual needs assessment data

This professional learning is considered a train-the-trainer session.  All learning materials will be provided to participants for replicating this training within your building or district.

Each focus session will provide SLO samples for the targeted population.  However, teachers will find the samples suitable for any teacher/principal SLO.

Free to districts participating in the 2013-14 Peer Review and Mentor Grant (up to three participants per district), else see below if not funded with the grant.
