 DESCRIPTION:

This full day of professional development for Title 1 teachers will continue with our book study using Apprenticeship in Literacy. An agenda will be provided in advance of the meeting with specific information to help you prepare.

Please check The Title 1 Live Binder for an agenda update prior to the meeting. http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=1009628

Please bring:
• Monitoring Binder
• Apprenticeship in Literacy text
• Two transcripts of a teaching interaction taken at least 3 weeks apart. See Live Binder for an example – a writing conference would be preferable but a reading conference is acceptable.

OBJECTIVES:

• Use Monitoring Binders to collaboratively learn from each other’s approaches to implementing high quality Title 1 programs.
• Continue with book study to develop a shared understanding of learning theories and practices that accelerate student achievement. Read chapters 5-7.
• Analyze instructional videos for best practices in teaching for acceleration.
• Discuss progress-monitoring practices.
• Dialogue around the issues facing the greatest needs of the group.
