Dr. Linda Clinard comes to us from California where she taught reading/literacy education courses for California-Irvine Department of Education. She retired in 2007 and currently serves as an early literacy consultant and delivers presentations focusing on school-to-home connections. Her book "Family Time Reading Fun: Help Children Become Successful" is a resource for all teachers, tutors and parents. This resource book is filled with activities to help families better prepare their child or for use by teachers to reinforce good instruction. Linda will demonstrate various strategies for us and has a level of enthusiasm that will motivate you to try something new for a Family Fun Night focused on literacy. Each district present will receive a copy of Dr. Clinard's book compliments of the State Title I Network.

Learning Outcome:

1.  Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of family involvement with their child's education.

2.  Participants will become familiar with the 10 Keys to Literacy as described by the presenter.

3.  Participants will become familiar with the book "Family Time Reading Fun:  Help Become Successful."
