This professional development is designed to be an ongoing process to improve mathematics instruction at the classroom level by:

  • teaching and receiving high quality instructional feedback from Dr. Tim McNamara and peers,
  • observing and modeling mathematical coaching at the classroom level,
  • applying a coaching model for mathematics instruction,
  • fostering leadership for the implementation of a coaching model for mathematics instruction, and
  • supporting a continuous improvement model at the classroom, building and district levels.

Dates: Teachers participating will be involved in the Math Center 6 to 8 days throughout the year. The number of days is dependent on instructional coaching schedules and teacher availability. Semester 1: Teachers will be engaged in the coaching process and receive instructional feedback. Semester 2: Teachers will be facilitating/practicing coaching and giving instructional feedback. September 28, 2010 – 1 Day coaching training facilitated by Dr. Deb Kneser October 8, 2010; November 9, 2010, December 14, 2010: Teacher observations/feedback and coaching modeled. January 20, 2011 1 Day coaching training A February , March and April date will be set with participants to observe one another and practice giving instructional feedback/coaching.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
