Video in the Classroom

The research paper, the display board, the classroom speech – Ahhh,  research projects! Why not mix it up and use video in the classroom? Learn how to use the tiny new Flip Video cameras that plug directly into a USB port in your computer. From there we will look at a couple of online multi-media project websites (VoiceThread and Animoto) where you and your students can create professional looking presentations. If you have access to a Flip Video (or other similar camera), please bring it along. I will be able to bring a few of them if you don’t have one available.

Workshop Objectives
         Participants will:

  • receive guided, hands-on practice with the Flip Video (and other brands of USB cameras), Animoto, and VoiceThread.
  • use Animoto to create and share a book trailer.
  • use VoiceThread to create a self portrait and comment on another'S self portrait.
  • create an Action Plan for using video in their classroom.
