Google Tools for Teaching and Learning

Participants will examine the new learning environment for teachers and students made possible through the effective use of Google Tools. This workshop will focus on free applications from Google that support teaching and learning. Some of the Google applications that will be discussed during the workshop are: Google Docs, Forms, Spreadsheets, and Presentations, Google Advanced and Specialized Search, and Google Customized Search.

Workshop Objectives
         Participants will:

  • receive a hands-on introduction to various free Google tools and ideas on how the tools can be used in your classroom.
  • understand the features and be able to use a variety of Google tools and resources.
  • discuss the pros and cons of using Google tools in the classroom and/or for professional development activities.
  • create a lesson plan incorporating a Google Tool into an existing unit.

TechnoBlast to the Future is a Summer 2010 Technology Academy sponsored by the CESA 5 Ed Tech Formula Grant Consortium.
CESA 5 Ed Tech Consortium Districts: Almond-Bancroft, Auburndale, Cambria-Friesland, Lodi, Montello, Necedah, Nekoosa, New LIsbon, Pardeeville, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Princeton, Rio, Waupaca, Westfield, and Wild Rose.

Full day workshops for educators will provide hands-on experience with information and technology resources. Each workshop will provide classroom examples, skill development with structured practice activities, and time to develop a lesson or classroom activity for your classroom. Participants choose one full-day workshop for each day they attend. Participants may attend just a single day or two, three, or four days.  Lunch and breaks are included.

Location:  Westfield Area High School, N7046 County Road CH, Westfield

Fee:  $20 per day for educators from CESA 5 Ed Tech Formula Grant Consortium Districts.
Educators from other CESA 5 districts may register beginning May 1st on a space available basis. Registration fee will be $50 per day.

Optional Viterbo University credit @ $90 per credit is available for attendance at the Academy (2 days = 1 credit; 4 days = 2 credits) plus a completed lesson plan per credit plus daily reflections.

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
