Workshop Description:
One Day / Two Topics: Boardmaker software and Switch Technologies
This full day workshop is two workshops in one. The morning will be spent on the who, what, when basics of switch use with extensive reviewing of computer based switch software - a Switch Blitz. The afternoon will focus on learning how to create picture supported communication boards and activities using Boardmaker software.
Switch objectives:
• Gain Knowledge of switch technologies for assessment and implementation of appropriate tools for your students.
• Gain knowledge in training strategies and a toolbox for successful switch use.
• Gain knowledge of valuable resources
Boardmaker objectives:
• Learn to create picture supported communication boards and activities using Boardmaker software
• Gain knowledge in training strategies for successful use of picture supported communication and activities.
• Gain knowledge of valuable resources
Presenter: Cindy Nankee OTR/L, ATP is a school based Occupational Therapist and a certified Assistive Technology Professional. Cindy has worked 9 years with the WATI (Wisconsin Assistive Technology Initiative) and in 2009 established UTLL (Universal Technology
for Learning & Living) to provide professional development, technical assistance, assessment and implementation of technology to educators, consumers and families.
Audience: Early childhood providers, K-12 special education teachers, K-12 regular education teachers, Title 1 teachers and paraprofessionals
