The CESA 5 License Renewal and Support Center supports educators who are using the PDP as a tool for their license renewal. At this workshop you will have the opportunity to review the PI-34 legislation and use the PDP form or on-line tool to write your PDP. It is a proven fact that educators who take the CESA 5 PDP writing workshop have a higher percentage of PDPs approved with the first review! In the morning we will discuss the PI-34 legislation and components of the PDP. After lunch we will begin writing your own plan with the assistance of trained PDP reviewers. To make the most of this “hands on” session, participants should bring a laptop computer with word processing capabilities and wireless Internet access (Internet access is only necessary if you wish to use the online tool).
Who should attend:
• If you are a professional educator (administrator, teacher, or pupil services) who received your teaching license prior to August 31, 2004, you may take six credits every five years or you can use the Professional Development Plan (PDP) tool provided by DPI to renew your license. Professional Educators are encouraged to take advantage of the PDP as an option for license and attend this full-day workshop.
• If you are an initial educator (administrator, teacher, and pupil service staff) who was licensed after August 31, 2004, your are no longer required to take six credits every five years. Instead, you must document your professional growth and student learning by using the PDP tool. If you received any license after August 31, 2004, then you are considered an “Initial Educator” until you use the Professional Development Plan tool to renew your license.
• Mentors of initial educators are encouraged to attend this workshop at least one time so they can best support initial educators who they are mentoring.
CESA 5 PI-34 Consortium Members* may begin the process of having their PDPs reviewed this day at no additional cost. Non-Consortium Members can have their PDPs reviewed for an additional $175. However, you will receive a $25 discount on PDP review for attendance at this PDP writing workshop
