Day 4 - Evidence-Based Practices (Peer Supports)/Student Panel and Assistive Technology—The emphasis on this day will focus on the use of an Evidence-Based Practice called Peer Mediated Instruction and Intervention.  PMII can be used to increase socialization and academic learning of students with autism spectrum disorders. Current research related to Peer Supports will be shared along with practical implementation examples from the Bonduel School District’s involvement in the National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders project.  A student panel will be present to answer questions about how autism affects them in their living and learning. Assistive Technology for students with autism will be discussed and shared. Come see how iPads, iPods, Kindles, laptop computers, Smart Pens and other low and high tech programs can be used to work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
