Educators will participate in hands-on activities designed to inspire critical and scientific thinking and how these activities relate to food science. Activities will include DNA extraction from wheat germ, good testing for fat and startch, using cabbage jucie chemistry to test for acids and bases, and many more. We will take experimentation to its next step and reflect upon the implications of our results to determine how biotechnology impact our food suppoly and our health. You will be provided with resources to implement these activities in your formal or informal classroom.

Please bring: an empty jump drive on which to "load" information, power points, resources, insturctions, web quests and other useful lesson components
                         a lap top computer if desired and or video camera to record the content for recall when are able to teach lessons.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
