Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) & Observations and how to utilize them to write a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

As you are quite aware there are more and more preschool children who are attending daycares, Head Starts, and Early Childhood programs with increasingly difficult problem behaviors. Due to this and other facts it is important that you are aware of how to assess this behavior utilizing a process entitled Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). As you also know early Intervention with these problem behaviors is vital to the child’s present and future success. This presentation will also include how to conduct a variety of observations (frequency, duration, interval, time sampling and anecdotal records) as part of the data needed to complete the FBA and then write a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that utilizes Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS).

Presenter:  Deb Davis, School Psychologist, Special Ed. Director
