The 2013-14 network meetings will be focused on the theme: Equity and Excellence for ELLs: A Balancing Act for Administrators. Our meetings will be facilitated by John Kibler and Amy Christianson, from Edgewood College. At the fall 2013 Title III network meeting, it was determined that ELL coordinators need systems and supports to effectively lead in their school. John and Amy will share their expertise in designing effective systems of support for working with ELLs. A sampling of topics that will be addressed include:

  • Immigration Law and Educational Policy and the relationship to academic performance
  • Research-based instruction and state mandates for ELLs
  • Programmatic options
  • Strategizing existing resources for optimal student benefit (aka resource mapping)
  • Understanding teacher performance outcomes and ELL student assessment
  • . . . and more
