Disciplinary Literacy for Diverse Learners

 Join us for a workshop where we will explore the Common Core State Disciplinary Literacy Standards and some strategies to differentiate fthese standards for students in grades 6-12. We will also look at some ways we can build academic vocabulary for students. Middle and high school regular education content area teachers and ELL teachers are encouraged to join the collaboration and will leave with instructional strategies to use in their classrooms immediately! We will participate in a "close" read and model how text dependent questions will engage learners in collaborative conversations to build speaking and listening skills. Participants should bring a textbook from their content area for completing a scavenger hunt. Facilitated by Julee Dredske, Title III Coordinator. A lite supper will be provided and teachers who are members of the CESA 5 Title III consortium will receive a $15 stipend for their active participation in the learning.

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
