Visual Phonics
February 22-23, 2013
8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Check-in
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workshop (both days)
CESA #3, Fennimore, WI 53809

Please Note: One credit is now available for this training through Viterbo University. The cost for the credit is $220 payable to Viterbo on the first day of the training.

Workshop Description:
See the Sound-Visual Phonics is a system of hand cues and written symbols that create a one to one correspondence to all the sounds in the English language thus "breaking the code" and making it much easier to bridge speaking to reading and writing. It can be used with any system/curriculum already in place adding a kinesthetic piece, which research shows, boosts memory. The participants will learn both the hand cue and written cues and after 2 full days will be able to utilize the system with accuracy and fluency (almost guaranteed). Be prepared to be active and check your shyness at the door. You will find yourself thinking of words in a whole new way and realize the impact that this system can have on your students now and in the future.

About the presenter:
Jennifer Johnson is currently working as a Teacher of the Deaf for the Wausau School District. She has worked in that capacity for the past 6 school years and it was during this time when she was exposed to See the Sound-Visual Phonics and became hooked. She became a licensed trainer in 2010 and has had the opportunity to work with Early Childhood Teachers, Elementary Teachers, Special Educators, Speech Pathologists, Audiologists, Educational Interpreters, Parents, and many others all throughout the state of Wisconsin. She holds licenses for Regular Education Grades 1-6, Learning Disabilities PreK-12 and Hearing Impaired Prek-12 and has taught under all of those areas. As a working professional, wife and mother of four, she appreciates the time you have committed to this opportunity and aims to make this a workshop that you will find useful, insightful and fun.
