CESA 4 would like to offer you a chance to learn more about the use of assistive technology for reading and writing to help your struggling students with the Common Core Standards. Luckily for special education, Common Core actually includes the use of Assistive Technology to help our struggling readers and writers maintain these new rigorous standards. Are you all looking for a text reader, screen shot reader or word prediction to help your students get ready for digital text and testing in 2014? Districts seem to be jumping on getting some of this in place so the learning curve of new standards and technology is not so great on our students in 2014. Our students are really working with Common Core by showing evidence while writing, working on typing skills, and using academic vocabulary – what a change this year! You are probably realizing what a big change this is going to mean for our special education students. Join us for an hour on February 13 at 2:45 to see SOLO (a literacy suite) and Snap&Read (a screen shot reader) and/or on February 28th from 11 to noon to see Start to Finish (middle school/high school content written at 2nd to 5th grade readability).
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
If you need an accommodation to participate including interpreter services (sign language or other spoken language) please email the workshop contact to set up these services. A two-week notice is appreciated.
