Last year our DPI Consultant indicated that we should have more in the Plans of Service beyond the Can-Do Descriptors. Rather than addressing the need to improve the Plans of Service last spring, we decided to wait until the Amplification of the English Language Development Standards, by WIDA, were released for use in 2012 so they can be used in writing Plans of Service. In August, Judy attended a training session by WIDA about Amplified Standards. As districts ad-dress the language and academic needs of English Language Learners as part of their RtI work, the Plans of Service need to go beyond the language objectives provided by using the Can-Do Descriptors.

In each district in the Consortium, individuals are identified to assist classroom teachers in writing the Plans of Service for each student in the district. Participants should bring the ACCESS reports for each student with them. Their data will determine the objectives for each area of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Audience: Classroom teachers are invited to attend with the district person who facilitates the process for writing Plans of Service for ELL students in the district.

Presenter: Judy Conlin, CESA 9

Cost: Free to members of the Title III Consortium (past & present)
