This is an opportunity for School Counselors to gather to discuss what is happening in districts, and to plan for future topics of interest. Lynn Verage will be here to discuss the newly established Wisconsin Safe and Healthy Schools Center that is responsible for training on AODA and Safe Schools issues. We will also have a speaker from the American Lung Association to discuss “new” tobacco products that students may be using. There will be a short presentation on Career Pathways, and information sharing on Youth Options. In addition, there are two grant opportunities to discuss. One is the AODA Consortium grant that several districts have participated in over the past two years. It is again a two year grant with a maximum amount of $25,000. The second is a federal grant that may be available in April to increase school counseling opportunities. This grant is for up to $400,000. The past year three districts in Wisconsin received this grant (Wausau, Fond du Lac, and Madison). We are hoping to have obtained a copy of at least one of these as an example.

Please come with topics of interest you would be willing to share with the other counselors. It would be helpful if those that attended the Building the Heart of Successful Schools Conference would share on sessions they attended.

Registration Fee:
$0 for AODA Grant Consortium School Districts (Bayfield, Butternut, Chequamegon, Mellen, Mercer, Solon Springs, Washburn)
$25 for AODA Network Districts (Ashland, Drummond, Hurley, Maple, Solon Springs, South Shore)
$125 for all other registrations.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop with wireless Internet access if they are able.

Registration Deadline: January 24, 2013 (Registrations cancelled after deadline will not be refunded)

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:

If a workshop has been canceled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all your contact information is correct on myQuickReg.com
