Canceled - Leveled Literacy Intervention - Red Kit

Dates: January 14, February 11, March 8 & April 8, 2013
9:00 AM – 3:30 PM (each day)

Audience: For teachers already trained in LLI K-2 and who teach students
reading at the 3rd – 6th grade reading level
(Fountas & Pinnell text level N-S)

Cost: $850.00 per participant from CESA 8 School Districts,
Includes phone and e-mail support in between face-to-face
training sessions. $1000.00 all other school districts

LLI is a small group intervention for children in Grade 3 who find reading and writing difficult to learn. The children selected for the interventions are the lowest achievers in literacy in their grade level and are not receiving another intervention. Daily Instruction in LLI RED:
? Provides a daily 45 minute lesson to a small group
? Up to 4 students 5 days each week
? Combines reading, writing, and word work
? Gives explicit attention to the features of nonfiction and fiction texts
? Provides explicit teaching of effective strategies for writing and uses writing to extend understanding of texts and of words
? Emphasizes teaching for comprehending strategies and reading continuous text
? Provides explicit teaching of effective and efficient strategies for expanding vocabulary

Recommendation: It is beneficial for participants to have purchased the LLI
System prior to training Grade 3.

Training Materials: You will receive a schedule indicating which LLI and
assessment materials are required for participants to bring to each class. Training
materials will be available through Heinemann. These materials are not part of the registration fee. Supplemental materials, developed by Judy and Vicky to enhance
the delivery and monitoring of the intervention system, are included in the fee of the workshop.

*A benchmark assessment system is an integral part of LLI. If your district does not use one, consider purchasing the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System 2

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any registration cancellation must be received 7 days prior to the scheduled date to receive a refund or avoid invoicing. CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 8 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. Registered participants not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 8 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs.
