8:45      Registration and continental breakfast
9:00      Introductions & Favorite Books
Please bring one book that you enjoyed reading and two books that you recommend to your students. Be prepared to give a short description of each and reasons why you recommend them.
9:45      Strategies for helping students select "good fit" books

• Good fit strategies from The Sisters
• Other strategies to use with older students
• Differences in what boys and girls like to read
• What are lexiles and how can we help students use them as a guide?
• Using the lexile feature on BadgerLink
• Alternate ways books are used in the classroom and for personal enjoyment

10:45     Break
11:00     BadgerLink: What else is new for 2009-2010?
11:30     Using a SMARTBoard in the IMC (orienting the board and using the basic tools; Digital Ink Layer)
12:00     Lunch
12:45     Small group sharing and discussions of issues by grade levels. Groups will also alternate taking time to experiment with the SMARTBoard and with Badgerlink and other online resources for students.
2:15      Whole-group sharing of discussion topics and resources
2:45     Evaluations and planning for next year

CESA 5 registration fee: $ 40
** Registration fees waived for participants who register by Friday, January 22nd from full-service ITSS districts: Adams-Friendship, Columbus, Montello, New Lisbon, Pardeeville, Portage, Poynette, Randolph, Rio, Rosholt, Sauk Prairie, Wisconsin Dells.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, January 27th. Please submit purchase order or check to Janet Gaber, CESA 5, P.O.Box 564, Portage, WI 53901, within two weeks of registering for the workshop.

Lunch is included. Please contact Janet at gaberj@cesa5.k12.wi.us with any dietary concerns.

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
