During the first day of this 2-day series participants will experience interactive formative assessment techniques that elicit misconceptions, press student thinking, promote discussion, and provide feedback to students. Participants will learn how these formative assessment classroom techniques foster ideas from the Common Core Mathematical Practice Standards as well as how to choose techniques that enable you to pinpoint students’ knowledge of and readiness for the Content Standards.  Day 2 of this series will focus on the shifts in instruction that are intended to meet the expectations for the Mathematical Practice Standards while enhancing content knowledge.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will explore several formative assessment techniques to foster Mathematical Practices.
2. Participants will explore techniques to elicit student misconceptions.
3. Participants will explore strategies to promote discussions and provide feedback to students.
