This three day workshop is designed for Project Based Learning (PBL) Teachers and Charter School Planning Teams. It offers hands on training to develop knowledge and skills to begin planning, or to start teaching in a project based learning charter school. Traditional schools are welcome too. Professional learning communities will be offered for both high school and elementary models.

Bring your own laptop if you have one.

Day 1: Participate in a “follow me” experience that replicates projects students from the Rural Community Alliance charter schools have completed. Please select your 1st and 2nd choice of project topics from the list below and list your choice in the comments section of the registration form. For more details about each project download the Project Team Descriptions found in the attachment section of this page.

  • A. The FITT Principle: Grade levels: High School. Subjects: Healthy Behaviors, Physical Education, Life Science
  • B. Collaborative Projects Across Time and Space: Grade levels: High School. Subjects: All
  • C. Smokey Bear Project: Grade levels: High School. Subjects. History, Behavioral Science, English, Art
  • D. Elk Tracking: Grade levels: High School. Subjects: Life Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography
  • E. Everyday Heroes: Grade levels: Middle and High School. Subjects: Language Arts, Social Studies
  • F. Math in Our World: Engineering Our Future!: Grade levels: Elementary 4th- 6th grade. Subjects: Math, History
  • G. Persuasive Music: Grade Levels – Intermediate 3rd -5th. Subjects: Persuasive writing, research reading, seven elements of music

Day 2 and 3: Work in an advisory circle of up to 10 other teachers to design your own project. Work independently, network with other teachers, or work as a school team; by the end of the workshop you will leave with a project ready to go. In the notes section of the registration indicate if you plan to work with another teacher or a school team. Come prepared with your project ideas and materials.

Workshop registration includes breaks, lunch & materials.
Registration is limited to the first 50 registrations (first come first served-must be registered on myquickreg).

The first 50 registrations will also receive a $300 stipend (must complete all 3 days of training).
REGISTRATIONS MUST CONTAIN 1st & 2nd CHOICES IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE STIPEND.

Cost: This is a free workshop funded by a grant. The Rural Community School Alliance (RCSA), a consortium of 4 rural charter schools, is offering this training through a Charter School Dissemination Grant provided by the Department of Public Instruction.

Lodging Information:
Download the Lodging in Park Falls 2013 attachment for a list of hotels and campgrounds in the Park Falls area. Participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements and paying the cost for these expenses.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:

If a workshop has been canceled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. Participants will be notified via email through myQuickReg.com if a cancellation occurs. Please make sure all your contact information is correct on myQuickReg.com
