Writing Retreat with Kelly Gallagher

Join a community of teachers for a 3-day Writing Retreat. Kelly Gallagher, a renowned classroom teacher, literacy expert, and author will share his work on “moving writing to the front burner.”  He will inspire teachers to tackle writing with a new enthusiasm and he will share proven strategies, tools, and tips to engage teachers and students in the writing process. Writing can and should be fun, lively, informative, and challenging, but most of all it should prepare students to be adult writers in the real world.

“Language is a tool and a weapon (which explains why in times of revolution writers are always the first to be rounded up and imprisoned)….let’s teach our students how to develop and use the tools and weapons they will need to lead productive, literate lives.”

Bring the family and join us for three days of reflective learning at the Florian Gardens while the kids enjoy Chaos Water Park and Action City go-carts, laser tag, climbing walls, video games, and more. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Metropolis Resort for retreat participants.
