What happens when you combine interactive whiteboard technology with “special needs” software/hardware using Education's best practice (Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Professional Learning Communities) and Speech Language Pathology (Participation Model, Aided Language Stimulation and Differentiated Communication)? You get SMART Inclusion!
21st century inclusive classrooms and school communities are combining technology with good instruction to enhance educational and social participation for ALL students, including those with cognitive, visual and physical disabilities-- “necessary for some, good for all.”
Alex Dunn from Upper Canada District School Board, Ontario, Canada, will share the impressive results from their data-driven model-tracking student participation and achievement, as well as teacher learning. Throughcase study, video and demonstration, we will explore how Assistive Technology and SMART Board Tools can be integrated in general education to support teaching and learning for students with communication, physical and learning challenges along with the "typical student."
