Sandy Atkins will be joining us here at CESA 10 to explore the shifts in instruction that must take place in order to meet the needs of the CCSS for Mathematics.  Aligning our content is only one piece of the puzzle.  In order for students to meet the demands of the Mathematical Practice Standards, instructional changes need to be implemented as well.  Participants in this session will begin to analyze how current practices may actually cause misconceptions as well as how to shift our teaching to focus more on depth of understanding.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Participants will explore instructional strategies that foster the Mathematical Practice Standards.

2. Participants will explore instructional strategies that can cause misconceptions in student thinking about mathematics.

3. Participants will consider instructional shifts that need to be made to align our teaching with the CCSS.

Registration at 8:30 AM
