Words Hurt: This training is for teams of youth and adults on how to organize and hold a “Words Hurt” event at your school. This campaign was developed by students from Appleton East High School. “Words Hurt” usually involves students working with other students to raise awareness about the power words have to both hurt and heal.
There will be time for groups to work on developing their own “Words Hurt Campaign.”
TRAINER: Brian Juchems has worked with GSAFE since 2002 and has volunteer experience going back to 1998. Currently he serves as our Director of Programs, where he oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and serves as the core educator trainer. Prior to GSAFE, Brian served as Director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s LGBT Campus Center and as Coordinator for a teen peer education program for Youth Services of Southern Wisconsin. Brian holds a BA from Luther College.
