This workshop is based on the book, A Framework for Understanding Poverty, by Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D.  The workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the culture of poverty and its impact on the learning styles of students.  Workshop will consist of an overview of the "Framework" including key points regarding poverty, the "hidden rules" of poverty, and how those things affect language and cognition.  Participants will also be provided with insights into strategies and techniques to use with students from poverty to help them improve their classroom performance in all curriculular areas.

Presenter:  Jen Ledin is a Transition Coordinator for CESA 12 and the Wisconsin Statewide Transition Initiative (WSTI).  She has been a special education teacher for the past 21 years, with the last 14 years at CESA 12 as a teacher of the Deaf and hard of hearing and transition coordinator.  Jen became a certified trainer in Ruby Payne's "Framework for Understanding Poverty" in 2006 and has now completed her lifetime certificate the summer of 2012.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:
