This workshop is designed to share with participants a multiage elementary classroom model. Philosophy and
theory for why one would teach in this type of setting as well as scheduling, grouping of students for instruction, and instructional practices will be discussed.

Multiage educational practices are grounded in a philosophy that holds that every child can learn and that learning is a continuum rather than a series of steps. The multiage
philosophy accepts that students of a particular age or grade will be working at a variety of academic and developmental levels. A multiage classroom results in an atmosphere that is nurturing instead of competitive and allows each child to grow based on their own complex set of needs.
Audience: 4K-6 classroom teachers, specialists, principals, curriculum directors

It is suggested that schools send a team to the workshop. There will be different curricular models presented and it would be useful for a team from the same school to consider the pros and the cons of each model.
