Implementing Wisconsin's SLD Rule: Training for School Teams

This full day workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of DPI's guidance for implementing the Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) rule. Teams will have the opportunity to work with DPI's new tool developed for use in charting and analyzing progress monitoring data from interventions implemented in accordance with the SLD rule. Teams will understand how the sunset of the significant discrepancy method for determining eligibility will affect IEP team evaluations for SLD, including the selection of interventions and collection of progress monitoring data in accordance with the rule.
The training will also include discussion of initial reevaluation to determine SLD, application of the SLD rule when a child has speech-language concerns or is very young and the prominence of exclusionary factors in making eligibility determinations. Teams will receive the information and support materials they need to implement the SLD rule consistent with legal requirements.

Participants are encouraged to review the guidance materials available on the SLD webpage at:
http://www.dpi.wi.gov/sped/ld.html
