9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
-AGENDA-

9:15-9:30 Coffee/Snacks/Networking

9:30 – 11:20 Measuring Growth for RtI and the Wisconsin’s SLD Rule
Kathryn Bush, DPI School Psychology Consultant

Description:
Most Wisconsin school psychologists were trained before there were two ways to measure growth in student educational outcomes. We tend to know and understand Curriculum Based Measures (CBMs) to some extent, but we tend to know little about Computer Adaptive Testing (CATs), and the underlying Item Response Theory (IRT). Learn how the underlying assumptions of IRT are vastly different from what we know based on our training in classical test theory. Learn how CATs and CBMs are used for measuring growth in multi-leveled systems of support, their strengths and weaknesses, and their potential for use in Wisconsin’s specific learning disabilities rule.

11:20- 11:40 Covering Kids and Families Update
Jean Nothnagel, Outreach Specialist, University of Wisconsin-Madison

11:40-12:20 Lunch/Networking

12:20-2:15 Advanced Applications of Curriculum Based Measures, Especially Written Language Measures, Kathryn Bush, DPI School Psychology Consultant

Description:
We will review commercially available and public domain measures for progress monitoring student academic outcomes. We will compare and contrast measures in six of the eight areas of SLD. We will focus on written expression. Learn the scoring rules for measures of written expression, and work toward inter-rater reliability with another colleague on Correct Word Sequences.

2:15-2:30 WSPEI, Family Engagement Updates
