English Language Arts teachers can become more equipped to implement the Common Core ELA standards by understanding them more deeply, challenging current structures and practices amongst colleagues, raising expectations for ALL children's literacy learning and becoming a literacy leader within their district.  This all begins with TIME to dig more deeply into the standards, collaborate with colleagues and become familiar with tools that exist to help you meet the demands within the standards.  If you are in need of an overview prior to this day of digging deeper please connect with Thersea Burzynski.  Please bring with you your copy of the 6-12 ELA CCSS.

Learning Outcome 1: Dig deeper into the shifts represented in the standards as well as specific expectations within the standars and on the 'new' assessment out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.

Learning Outcome 2: Develop an awareness of  English Language Arts Curriculum Map model examples based on the CCSS and tools to be used in this process locally.

Learning Outcome 3: Identify the expectations for disciplines within the ELA CCSS and ways to connect and collaborate with content area teachers to meet the demands.
