The WI Comprehensive School Counseling Model (WCSCM) is a coordinated system of programs, activities, and learning experiences that prepare all students for life after high school. The program provides opportunities for ALL students to develop to their fullest socially, academically, and in their career planning.
In the Level 1 Seminar, K-12 counselors and district staff analyze current student services in order to develop or enhance a comprehensive school counseling program. Your team will build a foundation for the K-12 counseling program, develop an understanding of the components of new state model for school counseling programs, review the ASCA standards, and the new DPI counseling standards. You will also learn about the state initiative with career clusters and parent/student conferencing. Each team will develop materials to define and promote your local counseling program, i.e.: district program manual, district and building brochures, PowerPoint, career cluster, and a manual for student/parent conferences.
Who Should Attend: Level I is specifically for K-12 Counselors, other educators teaching career development and administrators. Teams of 3-6 are encouraged to attend. You may concentrate on one grade span (PK-5, 6-8 or 9-12) or develop a district plan. (This is the final Level I training scheduled for CESA 5 at this time.)
Seminar Dates/Time: This is a three-day seminar that will meet from 8:30 -3:00. Meeting dates: Tuesday-November 10, Thursday-November 19, and Monday-December 14. Your team members should attend all three session dates.
