CALLING ALL TEACHERS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS and MEDIA SPECIALISTS

We would like to invite you to participate in the development of a statewide project that will provide teachers in the State of WI with a database of resources they can search?To find examples of classroom activities to teach information technology literacy that is integrated with the English Language Arts.

You can earn a $210 stipend

WHEN: August 15, 2012, 8:30 am – 3:30pm

WHERE: CESA #4 Discovery Room

WHAT: The objectives of the project include...

1. Gather online resources and electronically upload to a Google Site, and vet resources to assure they meet the level of quality expected by the DPI. The project will use the Wisconsin ITLS and CCSS Curriculum Crosswalk to develop the collection tool. The project will use Google forms for gathering data.

2. Train participating teachers to use the DPI curriculum crosswalk tool for Information Technology Literacy and Common Core English Language Arts, Resource Gathering process, and the Achieve Rubric. The activity will be a one-day face-to-face event. A Google site for accessing information and materials for the professional development activity will be made available.

3. The project will use the Achieve Rubric for evaluating the quality of the resource submissions.
 

Project participant requirements and obligations are...

1. Participate with a team of K-12 teachers responsible for ELA and/or media specialists in your CESA region to gather online resources
2. Familiarity with the new ELA Common Core State Standards and/or Google apps for education is preferred
3. Attend the full workshop and submit 5 resources.
4. Participants will be paid a stipend of $210.00 plus mileage and lunch will be provided
5. Participants have the option to integrate a new online resource into an existing lesson plan for 1 Viterbo Graduate Credit (paid for by the participant)
 

ALL POLICIES APPLY UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE INDIVIDUAL EVENT DETAILS.


Participant Cancellation Policy: You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.


Dietary Restrictions: Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.


Weather Conditions: If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.


Additional Accommodations: If you need an accommodation to participate including interpreter services (sign language or other spoken language) please email the workshop contact to set up these services. A two-week notice is appreciated.
