 Overview

Handwriting Without Tears is a developmentally based, child friendly approach to writing. It helps children build a solid foundation for success in the classroom. Recent findings deomonstrate writing by hand improves creative writing skills and fine motor skills. This workshop is effective for anyone who wants to make handwiring easy and motivating for their students.

 

With the adoption of Common Core State Standards, the emphasis and expectations are changing, especially for young children around writing. Through this workshop one will understand a developmental approach to pre-writing and beginning printing skills, leave with an understading of “how” to promote readiness skills, and learn new ways to teach developmentally appropriate activites for learning math (number recognition, shapes, math awareness) and literacy skills (beginning sound, language, letter, and words). Attendee’s will also learn how to implement strategies for differentiated instruction and learn how to integrate activities for sesory motor and social emotional development.

Bill is a Certified Trainer of the Handwriting Without Tears company. He is an Occupational Therpist in the schools and at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital Centers for Disabilites and Development.

Registration Fee: $122 per participant - This fee includes “Handwriting Without Tears Kit (which is required for each particpant), presenter costs, break and lunch.)

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:
