There are literally hundreds of “communication apps” that may support students with communication challenges in the iTunes store ranging from AAC to articulation, visual schedules, social stories, language & concept development and more. We will explore and compare SOME of the apps that Special Education teachers and Speech, Language Pathologists may find useful including those that you may not consider "typical" apps for speech or language development. Resource lists of apps will be provided, but also be prepared to share your own favorites! While we may spend a limited time reviewing new features in IOS 5, this session is intended for those who are familiar with iDevices, accessibility and operating features.

The morning will focus on AAC apps and features you should consider for those students who need to support their communication. The afternoon will focus on “other” communication apps such as those for schedules, creating social stories, language development and more. In addition to paid apps, many free apps will be highlighted and can be downloaded and explored in the afternoon. Please come with your Apple ID (iTunes username & password) if you want to download any apps. Some iDevices (iPad or iPod Touch) will be available for loan. Please contact Judi Cumley cumleyj@cesa5.org to reserve a device.
