This online course is designed as a flexible, independent professional development option.
Participants navigate content at their own pace and engage in self-reflection and journal activities throughout the course.
Participants have access to course content from June through the end of October 2012.

In this course, you will…

  • Examine the main characteristics and types of content-based instruction for English language learners.
  • See how teachers balance the dual focus on language and subject matter and learn about a helpful framework for
  • designing content-based courses and lessons.
  • You will also consider different criteria for choosing and developing the content taught, as well as factors influencing the choice, development, and adaptation of materials.

Who should take this course? Grades 4-12 ESL teachers; Grades 4-12 content teachers, working with English language learners (ELLs)

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
