Audience: PK-12 District and Building Administrators, Pupil Services Directors/Coordinators and potential local school building coaches and team members.

Presenter: Peg Mazeika, CESAs 2, 3, 5 PBIS Regional Coordinator

Description: School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports (SW-PBS) is a proactive systems approach for creating and maintaining safe and effective learning environments in schools, and ensuring that all students have the social/emotional skills needed to ensure their success
at school and beyond.

District leaders and school principals should participate in this overview, and potential coaches and team members need to be identified. Upon completion of this overview, individual districts, and/or schools will determine if they are ready to make a commitment to the successful implementation of this process. This overview will also help districts/schools determine if local coaches will be trained and used, or if coaching services will be purchased from CESA. This workshop will describe the PBIS model, rationale for implementation, and step-by-step implementation information of all three tiers of School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports, emphasizing the integration of school-based mental health supports.

Schools committed to the implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports will also be required to attend the new coaches orientation on May 23, 2012, and universal level team training days on June 11 and 12, 2012.
