How do you support student struggle? What can you do to develop number sense, thinking, and reasoning lessening the likelihood of struggle? How do you arm students with skills for getting unstuck themselves? This two-part workshop helps you address these questions. The first part of this workshop provides learning, activities, and resources for growing number sense. It helps participants think about what to do when students struggle and how reasoning about numbers, thinking flexibly about them, and estimating plays an important role in getting unstuck. The second part of the workshop features strategies and instructional routines for developing better thinking for better problem solving which is often a prime cause of student struggle. The workshop is jam-packed with ready-to-use classroom resources for number sense, problem solving, and productive struggle. Grades K-8.
