Description: Many educators today are under immense stress. According to the National Education Association, 67% of educators considered burnout to be a “very serious” issue in 2022 and they define burnout as “a condition in which an educator has exhausted the personal and professional resources necessary to do the job.” But there is hope and that hope is Compassion Resilience.

Compassion Resilience is “the ability to maintain emotional, mental, and physical well-being while compassionately supporting others through the challenges of daily work. It involves maintaining empathy, strength, and hope in the face of adversity while taking steps to prevent compassion fatigue.” (From https://eliminatestigma.org/compassion-resilience-toolkit/)

Please join Elizabeth Freeman, CESA 2 Consultant, and Jenny Holle, Regional Coordinator for the Wisconsin Safe and Healthy Schools Center (https://www.wishschools.org/) to explore the Compassion Resilience Toolkit for Schools (https://eliminatestigma.org/compassion-resilience-toolkit/schools/what-is-compassion-resilience/) a free resource to assist schools with information, and resources to help leadership and staff understand, recognize, and minimize the experience of compassion fatigue and to increase compassion resilience.

This training will help educators to become aware of what Compassion Resilience is, their current resilience, and ways to increase Compassion Resilience. This will be accomplished through discussions of compassion fatigue and resilience, boundary setting, whole-person wellness, mental health and identifying system drivers of compassion fatigue and resilience. This will be an interactive session and does NOT require outside work/preparation.
