Description: Learn not only about the purpose and components of the newly-released WI Civics Scope and Sequence AND the WIDA ELD standards but also how to leverage these resources to plan K-5 Social Studies instruction so that ALL students will be able to engage in the disciplinary practices of social studies: engaging as social scientists, critical thinkers, and readers and writers. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who work with all students, especially Multilingual Learners, to plan for integrating the WIDA ELD 2020 Standards for Social Studies into their K-5 Social Studies Units. Participants will also have supported design time within the workshop and share and learn from each other in addition to receiving feedback on their unit plans.

This is a collaboration between our Curriculum & Coaching and Language & Culture Centers of Excellence.

Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Central time (CDT)

Cost: $200. Lunch is included.
