This in-depth workshop will guide participants through types of writing, common barriers to writing, and different types of writing assessments. Additionally, we’ll dive deeply into feedback: teacher-to-student, peer-to-peer, and student self-reflection. Participants will leave the training with a vision for writing assessment in their classroom, school, and/or district.
Learning Intentions

Participants will develop comprehensive assessment strategies for writing in a range of genres suitable for different grade levels and content areas.

Participants will examine how to differentiate assessment approaches while maintaining consistency in assessment standards.

Participants will develop strategies for offering constructive feedback on student writing to promote growth in writing skills.

Participants will explore ways to engage students in the writing process.

Participants will discover techniques for providing targeted support to meet the diverse needs of students.
